My Journey to Today
Since I was little, I have always had an interest in the world around me. Growing up in a culture that is based in another language and being able to learn about my heritage through Hebrew school gave me a lens that many others don't have. As Jews, we are encouraged and pushed to give back through tzedakah (charitable giving in Judaism), and to make sure our communities are taken care of. From this knowledge of my people’s history grew a love of all history and a love for giving back to my community through trash pick up, donations, and various other charities.
My mom and I have spent many a weekend sitting on the couch watching the newest archeology show on Disney+. Typically set in Egypt or the Andes, these shows gave me a glimpse into a different-looking world and all of its different cultures. When I was given the opportunity to apply to Global Studies, it was a no-brainer for me. I would be able to apply my love for my culture, history, and charity into one place, and I couldn't pass up that opportunity. Since joining Global Studies, I have learned more about myself, my local community, and the whole world, and I wouldn't trade that for anything.
